This was a commisioned piece for a friend's daughter that had just completed the Nike Marathon in SFO last year. She had a medical issue that was supposed to limit her from participating in marathons. She overcame, and was numbered in the runners that received a Silver Tiffany necklace. She lives in the Portland area and "Portland" was her nickname during the race. The painting had to include Nike, Red T-shirt with Portland on it, blue Tiffany box and the silver necklace. Acrylic on Canvas, 24 x 12 inches.

Nice work. I especially like the suggestion of buildings in the background - very subtle yet effective.

What a great tribute to your friend. It definitely conveys the celebration that comes from succeeding. I like the buildings suggested in the background.

great storry to go along with your fab illusstration…well done…
A great post... words and picture, both. As a runner (marathon in the distant past; half-marathons past, present, and future if the wheels hold up), I love a story of running triumph. Your ant looks justifiably happy/proud. Really like the city background, too.
Swell design!
This is really nice. I can't wait to get my Tiffany Necklace this October.
